“The Submarine” Pool
Product Design
An outdoor pool design project for Armstrong Kindergarten, this initiative presents both challenges and excitement, as the users are young children whose imagination and enjoyment are of utmost importance.
The design is inspired by the book “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea,” one of the most beloved children's books of all time. The pool is shaped like a submarine emerging from the ground, with the surrounding landscape designed to mimic an underwater environment, featuring elements such as coral reefs and marine life.
Safety is the primary concern when designing for young children.
To prevent injuries, all edges of the pool are rounded. The materials used are carefully selected to ensure there are no sharp edges. The height and water level of the pool are limited to be appropriate for children aged 3-5, allowing them to stand up easily if they fall. Three glass portholes allow light to enter and enable teachers to monitor the children's safety while they swim.

SUNSHADE SYSTEM
Sea creature-shaped kites provide shade and can be fixed with strings or a wire frame above the pool.
PLANT SYSTEM
Plants are chosen to resemble underwater flora, complemented by handcrafted coral reef shapes.
